What better way to experience the West than to spend a day at the rodeo? The Laramie Jubilee Days and Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeos both offer a real taste of the cowboy way.

Have you seen team roping like the kind pictured here? How about bulldogging? Saddle bronc and bull riding? It's something to see at least once in your lifetime.

During rodeo weeks we're still riding, fishing, and exploring the outdoors. Our program of activities continues as usual.

Guests with transportation have the opportunity to head into town to catch some of the excitement. You might even get a chance to pose for a picture with a Rodeo Queen!

Laramie Jubilee Days - July 4-15, 2012

Activities abound at the Laramie Jubilee Days. Visitors and locals alike enjoy professional steer roping and bull riding. There are also mountain man rendezvous events, cowboy poetry readings, art shows, parades, fireworks, and lots of great food. At night, Laramie hosts other events including a popular street dance in the historic downtown.

Cheyenne Frontier Days - July 20 - July 29, 2012

Frontier Days is known as the "Daddy of them all" in this part of the country. It's an event not to be missed if you've never experienced a rodeo. In addition to the daily rodeo, the park is filled with attractions - an Indian Village (free), an Old West Town (free), an Old West Museum ($6), an art show ($5-10), and a midway with carnival rides.

It always helps to have a strategy when approaching an event like this. The Burleigh family has found that an arrival in the morning works well with visits to the various villages and museums. We then head for the midway and purchase an unlimited ride wrist band that entitles the wearer to rides from 11am to 6pm. We'll ride rides until just before rodeo time and then find some lunch and pack it with us into the rodeo arena. After the rodeo, there is time for more rides and sightseeing before taking in the evening concert. For those of you who want to catch dinner back at the ranch, you should leave Cheyenne by 4:45pm.

Purchase your rodeo tickets ahead of time on the internet or by phone using a credit card. Their ticket office is at 800-227-6336 or 307-778-7222 for our visitors from abroad. We highly recommend seating area B which offers covered seating to give you a break from the sun. Prices vary by seating area and date. The final rodeo at the end of the week is the most popular so get your tickets early.

For those of you without kids, we recommend the concerts which take place at night. Don't try and bring kids unless they are practically adults because it is a very late night and a somewhat rambunctious crowd. Concert tickets and acts are best learned about on their web site below.
